Curriculum
Lesson Overview:
Before we can build a helpful AI solution, we need to understand the problem it’s meant to solve. This lesson focuses on defining clear, focused problems rooted in real conservation and community challenges. The video shows how reframing a problem from assumptions to observations leads to better solutions.
Using examples like illegal logging alerts or long reporting times in WMAs, you’ll learn how to phrase your issue in a way that’s actionable. You’ll be introduced to the “How might we…” framing technique, which helps shift thinking from frustration to creativity. For instance:
“How might we reduce the time it takes to report human-wildlife conflict incidents?”
By the end of the lesson, you’ll write your own conservation-based problem statement. This will serve as your foundation for selecting tools, crafting prompts, and building your workflow throughout the module.
Guided Activity Prompt:
Write down one recurring challenge you or your team faces in conservation. Then reframe it using the phrase: “How might we…?”
